Meet the team

Robyn & Alan “Razz” Rasmussen

Owner Directors

Robyn and Razz have a long history of working together, raising their four children while pursuing various agricultural ventures. After a career in Sharemilking and a few years in Sheep & Beef farming, they sold their farm in King Country and made the move to New Plymouth. In early 2007, they purchased Betts & Bishop, marking a new chapter in their professional lives.

In their early years of owning the business, Robyn took on the responsibility of managing Administration and Finance, while Razz focused on Estimating, Project Management and leading the staff in the field. Their combined efforts and complementary roles contributed to the growth and success of Betts & Bishop.

Although Robyn and Razz remain actively involved the business, they have started transitioning the management responsibilities to others within the company. Zoe Hall, serving as the Business Manager, and Ben Te Huia, in the role of Operations Manager, are taking on more significant roles in leading and managing the company.

While Razz continues to work on the tools, particularly on major projects, Robyn focuses on office operations. This transition in management ensures the continuity of Betts & Bishop’s operations while allowing Robyn and Razz to gradually step back and enjoy a well-deserved semi-retirement.

Zoe Hall

Business Manager

Zoe’s professional journey began in Administration, and she gradually progressed into more challenging roles in the Dairy and Electricity Generation industries, gaining valuable management experience along the way. As part of a long-term succession plan, Zoe joined her parents at Betts & Bishop to contribute to the company’s future.

Within the business, Zoe takes on a comprehensive role that encompasses various aspects of the company’s operations. This includes leading commercial tendering and contracts, managing administration, human resources, finance and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Her wide-ranging responsibilities demonstrate her ability to oversee and coordinate multiple facets of the business.

Zoe operates alongside Ben Te Huia, who serves as the Operations Manager, forming a dual management model. This collaborative approach allows for effective decision-making, efficient operations and strategic planning to ensure the company’s continued success.

Outside of work, Zoe embraces her role as a mother to three wonderful children. Additionally, she actively engages in the Netball community, participating as an umpire, player and coach.

Ben Te Huia

Operations Manager

Ben is an integral part of the Betts & Bishop team and has been a long-standing employee within the company. A fully licensed builder, he joined the business when Handyman Xpress was acquired in 2012. Although Ben briefly left Betts & Bishop in 2018, he rejoined the team in 2020 to complete the dual management team with Zoe.

While Ben’s role as Operations Manager has shifted his focus away from being directly involved in hands-on work, he remains a versatile team member. He can still be found picking up a trowel on concrete jobs, or pushing a wheelbarrow when the job demands it. This demonstrates his willingness to support the team and be involved at various levels.

As the Operations Manager, Ben oversees the management of all Betts & Bishop construction sites. This includes leading and providing on-the-job training to the staff, ensuring the maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment, and upholding the highest standards of workmanship. He is responsible for planning and coordinating forward works, carefully considering the specific tooling, equipment and staffing requirements for each project.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys a fulfilling personal life. He is partner to Kelli and a proud father of four wonderful children. He is an active supporter of Coastal Rugby and a passionate Blues follower for State of Origin.
